Gap Meet 2012
« on: March 18, 2012, 09:44:13 PM »

The fourth annual Gap of Dunloe climbing meet will take place from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th of April.

Camping as usual in Con's field behind the Dunloe Golf Course. Toilets and water on site. Camp fire provided, bring your instruments!

The updated guidebook, which wasn't available for last year's meet, is online as a pdf somewhere here. If you can't find it email me at richardcreagh@hotmail.com.

Read a bit about last year's meet here: http://richardcreagh.wordpress.com/2011/04/18/gap-meet-2011/.

Here's a poster for this year's meet. Any decent gear shop/climbing wall staff should have their store wallpapered with these!

Camping is €5 per person per night. Which isn't bad at all. Thanks to Con Moriarty.

Spread the word.

If anyone would like a "guided tour" during the Gap Climbing climbing meet please get in touch.

I will be partnerless and am looking for people to go climbing with or to take climbing.
Ideally I would like to take people who perhaps are new to multipitch climbing and/or to leading but would like to enjoy the longer climbs in the Gap, and if there more than a couple of replies I will give precedence to this 'category'.
Failing that, I will simply be looking for a climbing partner.

The minimum requirements are that you can second 4c/5a. I am a qualified and insured climbing instructor and I know the Gap climbs very well (my 'local' crag). All equipment can be provided if needed.
No charge.

Fair play for making the effort with the meet Richard. The lack of numbers, particularly on Sunday was simply baffling.

I for one had a fantastic day in  Poirse gully,on the high buttress,Aspen ledge and on the main face with John Healy as partner ( many thanks for the inside line on a crag I thought I knew a bit about John, and for introducing me to the happy happy joy that was "An evening with nimbus" ). A brilliant pitch at a climbing location thats full of them.

Class video, well done, many thanks to you for organising this years event
Myself and Dave got to do three routes on Sunday, one on White Wall, one on the High Buttress and one on the main face
Bumped into a small group at Rescue rock from CYCC
Great day, great weather just a pity we couldn't make Saturday
